Bloodlines fanmix
Procrastination is still my friend! Even though my final tomorrow is for the class that I'm probably getting a solid C+ on!

01. Save Me by Remy Zero
Somebody save me
Let your waters break right through
Somebody save me
I don't care how you do it

What is Smallville without the requisite intro song? The more I listen to this song, the more I realise that AlMiles pretty much created every episode around it. *LOL*

02. Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions
The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs to show
He's licking his lips
He's ready to win

Note: I had this on my iTunes as "by White Snake" because that's how I found it. I've since discovered that it's actually by the Scorpions. any case, this is Lois' kick-ass song, especially after she finds out what happened to Chloe.

03. Silver Road by Sarah Harmer
Held in the beam of a light i thought we shared
Shone between two shores
And wants to be traveled like the gravel that
Runs from my door to yours

This is a Lois/Clark song for obvious reasons-- he's always going to belong first to the world and, thankfully, Lois has matured enough to let that be. This can also be considered Chloe's message to everyone in her will-- Clark, Lois, Pete, Lana and of course, Conner.

04. American Idiot by Green Day
Don't want to be an American idiot.
Don't want a nation under the new mania
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mind fuck America.

Conner's song, natch, encompassing not only his feelings about getting dumped into a new family but also about the whole mystery around his origins.

05. Simple Man by Shinedown
Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself.
Follow you heart and nothing else.
And you can do this if you try.
All I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.

From Clark to Conner. *tear*

06. Follow by Richie Havens
And close your fingertips and fly where I can't hold you
Let the sun-rain fall and let the dewy clouds enfold you
And maybe you can sing to me the words I just told you,
If all the things you feel ain't what they seem.
And don't mind me 'cos I ain't nothin' but a dream.

Chloe to Conner. *even more tears*

07. Sweet Child of Mine by Sheryl Crow
He's got eyes of the bluest skies
And if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
His hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Lana to Conner. Man, Conner is spoiled silly! *L* I think the last verse is most poignant considering Conner's constant rejection. Where do we go? /Where do we go now?/ Where do we go?/ Sweet child o' mine

08. Talk Show on Mute by Incubus
Still and transfixed
The electric sheep are dreaming of your face
Enjoy you from the chemical
Comfort of America

This is Lex's song. One of the things frustrated me about this fic was that I COULD NOT write Lex's story. Bloodlines is about Conner, about Clark, Lois, Lana and Chloe's connection to Conner, about Clark and Lois' ideas of family, and about Lana and Pete's family. There just was no room within this story's theme about Lex so he comes off as a near-archetypal, mustachioed villain when he really isn't.

09. Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell
Moons and junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As ev'ry fairy tale comes real
Ive looked at love that way
But now its just another show
You leave em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

A lot (not all) SV!Lois/Clark fans dislike Lana. Heck, every time an emo-montage comes up, I want to dislike Lana. But... I really can't. I dislike the choices she makes and I dislike how everyone supports the theory that the world revolves around her but I don't dislike her. She's not a bad person; she's just become a somewhat selfish person through her interaction with the environment around her. She's really quite self-sufficient, smart and very very capable but there's an emotional stunting there in the same way that Clark or Lois do because they've all been isolated from "normal" society in various ways. I wanted to portray a Lana who tried to make the best decision for Conner as she saw it.

10. Boulevard of Broken Songs by Party Ben (Green Day vs Travis vs Oasis vs Eminem vs Aerosmith Mashup)
I adore mashups. This one is pretty much all the major personalities mashed into a song.

11. Ramalama (bang bang) by Roisin Murphy
Visceral action music. This takes place when the JL break into the Roman PrimeX3 warehouse.

12. Time After Time by Eva Cassidy
If you're lost you can look--and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you--I'll be waiting
Time after time

Clark to Lois, Clark & Lois to Conner, and in some ways Lana and Pete to each other.

13. Never Saw Blue Like That by Shawn Colvin
And it feels like now,
And it feels always,
And it feels like coming home

For the scene at the end of Chapter 5. Yeah, that one with the SuperSex. In my head, this is a song that Lois & Clark dance to on their wedding. Maybe not the first song but definitely one of the slowly-swaying-forgetting-everyone-else dances.

14. Do the Evolution by Pearl Jam
Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, admire my clones
'Cause we know, appetite for a nightly feast
Those ignorant Indians got nothin' on me
Nothin', why?
Because... it's evolution, baby!

Fight music for the attack on the White House. This song also encompasses Lex's philosophy about the world and his place in it.

15. Staralfur by Sigur Rós
Visceral emo music for the hospital scene.

16. Everything That I Am by Phil Collins
Ooh I want to know where I belong
I want to know where I came from
I want to know the reason why I`m here
The way I am
Feeling the things I feel

This comes from the Broadway version of Disney's Tarzan. HUSH! It's a great movie! This is the part where, confronted with his parents' dilapidated shack, Tarzan realises that everything he thought he knew about his family was untrue. Tarzan = Conner so it comes back full circle to Conner questioning his place in the world just as Clark questioned his destiny in the pilot episode.

Download the fanmix zip file which comes with 2 versions of the back cover-- one with the song list and the other with a translation of the kyrptonian symbols on the cover.
This is my first time using megaupload so please let me know if anything goes wrong so I can... uh... click around, hoping that it'll get fixed.

Woohoo! A mix for one of my favorite Clark/Lois fics! The songs really fit the story perfectly.

Aww, as for Lex, you may have been dissatisfied but I'll take your evil Lex who's actually doing BAD over SV's version who was whining over Lana even when she stole from him and framed him for her death. :\

I hate Lana for the way she treats Clark and Chloe. Then again, I'm not going there for now. :D

But OOH, I love your explanations! I'm still crossing my fingers for a sequel. ;)

Hello! I missed you! *L* The sequel will be written in the summer or at least a great honking chunk of it.

I honestly don't mind a healthy discussion regarding Lana. I love geeking out about characters especially if I don't have the same opinion but I'm all about the fence sitting like that. ;) eg) My best friend fateschewtoy and I have different views on Lana and Chloe but we love talking about them anyway.

Don't get me wrong-- if there was a real-life Lana, I wouldn't like her. It's the character of Lana that interests me kind of in the same way that the character of Lex Luthor is interesting. She's not a "nice" person, per se, but I just don't find her to be an evil person which is how I read her in most Lois/Clark fics.

Awesome rock mix! I have to say, although I usually despise canon pairings, I've really warmed up to your Clark and Lois.

Thanks for all your ficcage.

It does! I've been listening to Save Me on repeat whenever I have the chance. ^^; I also adore and had never heard before: Boulevard of Broken Songs and Ramalama.

Both suit my current cracky mood.

You should've seen me when I first discovered Mashups 2 years ago. It was like finding the meaning of life. *L*

And Ramalama bang-bang is from So You Think You Can Dance. It has a sort of Tim-Burton-on-Prozac feel, I think.

We may or may not be severely biased towards Conner. *cough*
